CoolSculpting® can help you tone and sculpt troublesome areas of fat. When you have excess fat on your body, you may feel uncomfortable, unattractive, and self-conscious about your figure. Often times, you do not or cannot wear all the clothes that you would like due to your figure, and you may even avoid certain activities or social settings like swimming at the beach. At Sutton Place Dermatology, we are dedicated to providing you the quickest, most natural-looking results with techniques like CoolSculpting® while always valuing your safety and health first.

What is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is FDA-approved technology that delivers a precisely controlled cooling agent to gently yet effectively target the fat cells beneath the skin. CoolSculpting® freezes these fat cells, which results in the diminishing and disintegration of fat cells. After these fat cells die, your body will naturally process them, leaving you with a more toned, defined, sculpted figure.

During your procedure, it is not uncommon for you to feel a sensation of deep pulling, pinching, or numbness. Post procedure, you may feel slight redness or swelling on the targeted area, as well as a tingling or a slight stinging pain. These are natural responses from your body, and they are entirely normal. Any redness or swelling will fade in the two weeks following your CoolSculpting® procedure. It is possible that you may see results in the month following your CoolSculpting® treatment, but the most noticeable and impressive results usually take place within the three months following your CoolSculpting® treatment.

What should I expect from CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is a procedure that requires no surgery, anesthesia, or needles to provide noticeable results. Because CoolSculpting® requires no invasive techniques, in most cases, that means no downtime or recovery period. Freezing off the cells results in the removal and reduction of fat cells, and this freezing elimination targets only fat cells and does not damage or negatively affect healthy skin cells or surrounding tissue.

CoolSculpting® slowly affects your fat cells by freezing them during your treatment. Immediately, the targeted fat cells begin to die. During this process, the cell itself beings to collapse and disintegrate. Finally, in the weeks following your CoolSculpting® procedure, your body naturally processes and gets rid of these dead fat cells. It is important to note that this CoolSculpting® procedure will not help you lose weight, rather it will help you lose unwanted fat cells and have a more defined, slimmer physique.

During adolescence, the number of fat cells your body has typically plateaus. The results of CoolSculpting® are different than that of losing weight because losing weight only results in your fat cells shrinking, not disappearing. The freezing treatment of CoolSculpting® eliminates and reduces your overall count of fat cells and can help reduce your number of fat cells by up to twenty percent. Each treatment and patient experience unique and varying results that are dependent on a number of personal factors.

During your CoolSculpting® treatment, an applicator will be administered to the area(s) you wish to target. This applicator administers controlled cooling levels to only target fat cells. Because CoolSculpting® is a noninvasive treatment, you can feel free to relax during your treatment session by reading, using a handheld device, or even napping.
